Professor Lin Song of the Business School Had an Academic Paper Published in Economic Research Journal

Professor Lin Song from the Business School recently published his collaborative paper "County-level Entrepreneurial Activities, Income Growth of Peasants, and Common Prosperity" as the senior author in the top journal "Economic Research Journal" (CUFE Class AA) Issue 3, 2023.

Based on the data of 1749 county-level administrative regions in China from 2000 to 2017, this paper empirically analyzes the relationship between county-level entrepreneurial activities and disposable income of rural residents. Research found that firstly, county-level entrepreneurship is conducive to increasing peasants' income, especially in the entrepreneurial activities of small and micro enterprises and companies. Further research revealed that county-level entrepreneurship is conducive to narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas. Furthermore, the government size has an "inverted U-shaped" moderating effect on the poverty reduction effect of entrepreneurship, which is principally manifested in the central and western regions of China. Through further analysis of the differences in the characteristics of infrastructure development and digital economy building between counties, this paper discovered that the joint effect of county-level entrepreneurship and government size is more obvious in the counties without high-speed rail service and the non-e-commerce demonstration counties. In the end, this paper further explored the characteristic entrepreneurship and income increase in certain regions based on case analysis, having provided a feasible way to improve peasants' income.
