张燕，博士，北京大学心理与认知科学K8凯发副教授。主要研究方向为管理心理学👨‍🏫🙏🏿、领导力、团队、矛盾管理。以第一作者身份在Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Process, Human Resource Management, The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Relations，管理科学学报等国内外顶级期刊发表文章30余篇。主持了多项国家自然科学基金项目，其中包括一项国家自然科学基金优秀青年基金项目📥。目前担任Journal of Management以及Management and Organization Review的编委会成员。

讲座内容：

I investigated how founding CEOs from Taoist cultures infuse one paradoxical component into the other when managing temporal and social-relational tensions in corporate development. I used an inductive methodological approach to analyze 71 in-depth qualitative interviews with founding CEOs and their direct subordinates from 13 Chinese privately owned companies. I found cognitive and behavioral approaches geared to temporal and social-relational tensions. Following yin-yang philosophy, CEOs cognitively identified ways to infuse competing elements into each other and took specific actions to do so, going beyond the both/and approaches identified in current paradox management theories. This research adds nuance to our understanding of the intersection of leadership and paradox, particularly regarding how leaders infuse one competing element into the other in tension management based on the yin-yang view.
